Divisional Mission StatementThe Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrtion at The Ohio State University is committed to providing the training and experience necessary to train young physicians in the field of gastroenterology and hepatology. This includes the clinical skills necessary to be a competent clinician and the research skills necessary to be an academic gastroenterologist.
Description of ProgramThe gastroenterology training program is of three years' duration. The program provides at least 24 months clinical training and provides for the development of the clinical skills necessary to be a consultant in gastroenterology and hepatology. In addition, it provides the opportunity for the development of research training.
Special Features of the Fellowship ProgramThe Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition Fellowship Program provides an excellent clinical fellowship designed to expose the fellow to a wide variety of digestive disease clinical problems. In addition to becoming a consultant, there is the ability to become trained in procedures including liver biopsy, colonoscopy, upper GI endoscopy and therapeutic endoscopic retrograde cholangio pancreatography. The Ohio State University has an active liver transplant program and is a leading center for diagnostic and therapeutic (sphincterotomies, stents, etc.) endoscopic retrograde cholangio pancreatography.
