goha _WRITES "The health and fitness club operator Holmes Place is set for a major expansion in Israel, its chief executive told a New Israel Fund reception in London last week.
Addressing a NIF business group, Allan Fisher said the London-listed company aimed to open 30 Israeli centres within the next five years. Most will be mid-market Shape clubs, which amount for six of its eleven centres already established in Israel. The first opened three years ago, and the company - whose Israel managing direstor is Mr Fisher’s son, Jonathan - employs 800 people there....
At present, 48 of the 80 Holmes Place centres are in Britain. Turnover for the UK clubs increased by almost half last year to £38.9 million, while operating profits were up 28 per cent fo £11.5 million.
Mr Fisher and his wife, Maureen, have a second home in Jaffa and when there, he road tests his Israeli clubs’ facilities as part of his thrice-weekly workouts.
